PC at Playstation 5 level? Find out how much it costs to build one

PC at Playstation 5 level? Find out how much it costs to build a Playstation 5 level GamerPC Home? Find out how much it costs to build one

Have you ever thought about having a Playstation 5 level PC? Find out how much it costs to build one and which configuration offers similar performance to Sony’s new console.

Sony showed the configurations of the Playstation 5 and its state-of-the-art driving behavior and won over the majority of the public with its design and configuration. In this way, much nicer games promise to run and, above all, much more fluidly, with less load.

All that performance can be expensive, however, and with that in mind, we’ve designed a PC configuration that has the same performance, but at the price… well, you’ll see.

processor

This is possibly the easiest part, as Sony will be using an eight-core AMD Zen2 chip clocked at up to 3.5GHz. Therefore, it is possible to achieve the same result with the Ryzen 7 3700x, which has a base clock of 3.6 GHz and reaches up to 4.4 GHz. So this one was easy (but not cheap).

processor

  • AMD Ryzen 73700X = R$2,170.00

motherboard

In order to match the Ryzen 7 processor and be able to support our required SSD, we need PCIe 4.0 technology, so we chose the X570 motherboard, which suits us very well.

motherboard

  • Motherboard ASUS TUF Gaming X570 PLUS/BR = R$1,499.00

RAM

At this point we have a lot of difficulties since the Playstation 5 uses its own technology that unifies the CPU and GPU memories, which is very different from our traditional PC. The PS5 will use GDDR6 memory, so we will adapt DDR4 for the CPU.

It’s obvious that this one isn’t as efficient as Sony’s console, so to compensate we’ll use 16GB of memory running at 3200MHz.

RAM

  • Two memories 8GB DDR4 3200MHz TeamGroup Gaming = R$800.00

Another issue with this adjustment is related to the bandwidth speed of the PS5. The console will have an incredible bandwidth of 9 GB/s, a capacity that can only be achieved through compression technology that has little impact on the CPU and increases the flow of data communications.

What we can do is use a Cardea II PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD to try and achieve a similar result. This SSD is the fastest we have in terms of storage, and even then it only hits 5 GB/s. But make no mistake, it’s still very fast as a traditional HD is only 300MB.

storage

  • SSD NVMe PCI 4.0 1TB = BRL 2,499.00

graphic card

To get the performance we needed, we opted for an Nvidia GeGorce RTX 2070 Super graphics card, capable of delivering as much performance as the technologies Sony’s console has.

  • Galax GeForce RTX2070 Super EX 1Click OC = R$4,200.00

Final score of PC level Playstation 5.

  • AMD Ryzen 73700X = R$2,170.00
  • Motherboard ASUS TUF Gaming X570 PLUS/BR = R$1,499.00
  • Two memories 8GB DDR4 3200MHz TeamGroup Pichau Gaming = R$800.00
  • SSD NVMe PCI 4.0 1TB = BRL 2,499.00
  • Galax GeForce RTX2070 Super EX 1Click OC = R$4,200.00

In summary, this game cost an average of R$ 11,168.00 (eleven thousand one hundred and sixty-eight reais). Well, it seems that at the time of launch, the Playstation 5 is really leaving the PCs behind… Okay, the dollar doesn’t help, but nonetheless it’s an excellent piece of hardware that can bring us impressive games.
